Multifunctional agriculture

17:30 - 24 April 2012

For many years the only role of the agriculture in the countries of the European Union was the production in order to guarantee enough food for all the population. Nowadays, the agriculture has to carried out a lot of different functions; it is required to be ‘multifunctional’.
Is the EU agriculture able to be ‘multifunctional’? Can it produce enough food for an increasing world population and, at the same time, take care of the environment, of the rural development, and mitigate the climate change?

This meeting aims at clarifying the role of the modern agriculture and understanding whether functions, which may appear very different, can be integrated each other.
